Helpless

Helpless, for solo piano, was written as an exercise in exploring piano range. As it

developed, it became an outlet for frustration, specifically over seeing someone

close to me struggle and not being able, or knowing how, to help them. The piece

then became a narrative for such an event, growing increasingly frustrated and even

inwardly angry as the person feels as though they have failed in what they believe is

an intrinsic aspect of caring for someone.
